In September last year we wrote about “the movement movement”. In short it’s a movement we are creating to promote a culture of workers moving more throughout the day. Research has shown the ill effects of our sedentary lifestyles as well as the health, productivity & business benefits of increased movement in our workdays, so we think it’s pretty important.
Since then we have been big advocates in this space, appearing in numerous articles, podcasts and radio interviews talking about the importance of movement in combating “sitting as the new smoking”. For our company, movement is a part of who we are and I’m very excited to share with you our latest movement movement project.
Late last year, we began talks about how to create an office showcase using our health focused design to show people what its all about. They say ‘seeing is believing’ and that was really apparent in our talks with clients. They loved the idea and concept behind using design to create improved health and productivity for their people but just couldn’t see it. With all the varying information out there about sit/stand desks, remote working, the changing landscape of work ,etc… we knew we needed to do something about this.
So, we began talks with spaces about building this “showcase” for 2 reasons;
- To show our clients how it can be done well and on budget
- Run case studies with various businesses working in the space to show the health, productivity and business cost benefit effects.
It’s what we call at PHW group ‘health focused design’ and it’s an important part of working to solve the problems we continued to see people and organisations experiencing through our occupational physiotherapy work and training work.
I’m extremely excited to share that this project is well and truly off the ground. We partnered with Inspire9, a large co-working space in Melbourne, Backcare & Seating & SitandStand desks. We took approximately a 150sqm space and invested in building our showcase. This project will be completed by mid-may and available for all our readers to come and see. We’ve began uploading our early case studies working with our corporate clients at their workspaces (Case studies and testimonials) and will begin running case studies on businesses of various industries that reside at Inspire9 in our showcase later this year, which we look forward to sharing with you.
We are busy working away to complete this space in mid May 2016 and would invite all of you to come and see it when you’re in Melbourne. A launch event mid year will also be organised. In the meantime though, we would love to hear from you around ‘the movement movement’ and if this is something of interest to you. We also welcome any questions around the space at Inspire9 which is a great showcase for a realistic budget.
We look forward to launching this initiative and continuing to help change the way companies work for generations to come.
As always, have a healthy & productive day,
